LEGAL AI IN MAURITIUS: COMMON QUESTIONS

Do we have to move our files into your system?

No. Themis is built on the published corpus of Mauritian law, not on your matter files. Where a workflow does need your documents, such as document review, the scope is agreed in writing first and the material stays under your control.

Does it cite its sources?

Yes, and this is the point of it. Every substantive statement resolves to the Act, regulation or judgment it came from, so the answer can be checked in seconds rather than taken on trust. A system you cannot verify cannot be relied on professionally.

Will our client data be used to train your models?

No. Your queries and documents are not used to train any model. For firms holding privileged material this is usually the first question, and it belongs in the contract rather than in an email.

Which areas of Mauritian law does it cover?

The complete published corpus rather than selected areas: company law, employment, family, financial services, and land and property among them. Coverage is corpus-wide because the research questions practitioners actually ask rarely respect practice-area boundaries.

Does it work in French as well as English?

Yes. Mauritian law is bilingual by nature, with the Code Civil Mauricien and much doctrine in French while statutes and judgments are largely in English. A tool that handles only one language is working with half the material.

How long does it take to see whether it works?

An afternoon. Take twenty questions from closed matters where you already know the answer, run them, and check the citations resolve. That is a far better test than any demonstration we could give you.
